July 4th weekends

4th of July

The 4th of July is the Independence Day in America. That was a cloudy morning and I was hoping that the rain would not start. I began my day with watching a movie about the Independence of America. Then we went to the picnic by yellow school buses. On the way there it started to rain and it did not end until the evening. So we could not swim in the lake and sunbathing and quickly went back to campus.

That day after breakfast my two friends and me took a train to New York. After arrival to the Grand Central Station we came to the hotel to check-in. Then we walked on 5th avenue and Broadway street from the 14th street to the Northeast part of Manhattan. We saw a lot of skyscrapers and small parks between them. On our way we stopped to look at the Brooklyn bridge and Wall street with famous bull.

In the evening we took a free ferry to Statten Island to look at the Statue of Liberty.

At the end of the day we were totally exhausted because we walked 18 kilometers and we traveled by subway on the way back to the hotel. We had a dinner in a pleasant cafe Panera Bred near the hotel.

We saw paintings of Vincent van Gogh, Robert Rauschenberg, Jackson Pollock, Claude Monet and paintings and sculptures of Bruce Nauman and Andy Warhol. It was very inspiring and breathtaking.

After a cultured morning we had 4 hours before the  train and we decided to go shopping. On the way to Bloomingdales I found love in New York.

In Bloomingdales I bought jeans and some cosmetics. After that we came to the Tiffany to buy an infinity ring.

In the evening we took a train from Grand Central Station to New Haven.

After such dynamic weekends I needed to do my homework, so I spent the night before Monday with books.

  2. Your photographs are indeed excellent, but I miss seeing your grandmother's cottage and that lovely memory...will you include it? The contrast will be lovely against NYC.
